Local resident and campaigner Mario Creatura has been chosen to the next Conservative Parliamentary candidate for the seat of Croydon Central at the General Election.
Mario was chosen by the Croydon Central membership in Addiscombe on Monday evening.
Following the meeting, Mario said: ‘Last night I had the huge honour of being chosen to be the Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Croydon Central - my home town.
‘To be selected by the people I’ve campaigned with for the last 10 years is deeply humbling - and to be picked to fight for the place where I was born is a very special thing. I won’t let my community down.
Former MP for Croydon Central, Gavin Barwell endorsed his selection by saying: ‘Many congratulations to Mario. It's an amazing job and he’ll do it fantastically’.
Chris Philp, Member of Parliament for Croydon South, commented: ‘Well done to Mario. He will be a great candidate and we will have two Conservative MP's in Croydon again after the next General Election’.
Mario was born in Croydon and has lived here ever since. He went to school in Woodside and got his first job stacking shelves in the Town Centre. He was elected to Croydon Council in 2014 and has been active in the community, fighting to improve our borough for the last 10 years.
Over the coming weeks Mario will be getting his campaign off the ground, if you want to help by getting involved in some way then email him on [email protected]!
