This evening Labour put forward a motion to the Council asking for the Government to step in and help tackle the fly-tipping epidemic:
We call upon the government to run a national media campaign against fly tipping that spells out the environmental impact and the waste of public money clearing up after those who fly tip, that further spells out how that money could be better spent on other public services.
I was happy to support this, but not before pointing out in my speech that they could be doing better without needing any external intervention.
Passing the buck is sadly the stock-in-trade of this failing Council, they need to start taking ownership for what's under their control and getting their own house in order before casting the net wider for extra support.
