Today, the Government has announced that £50 million will be invested to improve the safety of 27 of the country’s most dangerous roads, reducing the risk of collisions and making roads safer for all road users.
That includes £1.8 million for the A25 which passes through Dorking, Reigate, Redhill, Nutfield and Bletchingley.
Britain’s roads are some of the safest in the world, but it's right that they are always looking at ways to help keep drivers and all road users safe.
That is why the Government is allocating £47.5 million to local councils around the country through the third round of the Safer Roads Fund. To date, £100 million has been provided through the programme to improve the 50 most dangerous roads in England.
The programme will reduce the risk of collisions which will in turn reduce congestion, journey times and emissions across England, from the Isle of Wight up to Newcastle.
